Leaders Lead: Sustaining leadership in Australian schools

This project was officially completed at the end of June 2005. The substantial resources that were developed will remain available on this website.
You can access them from the links in the right hand column.

The work that was done during this project continues to underline much of the work we do on leadership development. The wellbeing of school leaders is a significant part of our online learning resource Leaders Lead - L5 at Work, due to be launched at the end of July 2008. The specific modules are Staying strong in leadership and School leaders connect.

The following paragraphs come from the 2005 website and are included for curiousities sake. Leaders Lead is now APAPDC's ongoing, self-funded leadership project.

"Life (and leadership) is the day by day living of it"
With apologies to Tolstoy

Leaders Lead is the umbrella title for a continuing program of Australian Government funded projects, managed by the Australian Principals Associations Professional Development Council (APAPDC), to support the professional learning of school leaders. It was commenced in 2001-2 with Leaders Lead: Strengthening the Australian School, a program of national and state/territory seminars and workshops. The second phase in 2002-3 focussed on Succession Planning: Building Leadership Capacity for Australian Schools

Over the period until mid-2005 Leaders Lead: Sustaining Leadership in Australian Schools will use the results of the previous projects - and tap into new findings from here and overseas (such as MindMatters' work on staff wellbeing and APAPDC's Learn:Lead:Succeed publication) - to strengthen the sustainability of leadership in our schools.

This project was funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training under the Australian Government Quality Teacher Programme.
